KPFF Consulting Engineers, a leader in structural engineering design, was part of the design team for the recently opened showroom for Lucid Motors at 2-8 Ninth Avenue in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District.
“We are excited to have been a part of this team and help to bring Lucid’s line of electric vehicles to customers in one of New York City’s most vibrant areas,” said Spiro Kremmidas, PE, SE, New York Principal of KPFF. “This project repurposes a historic Manhattan building for a new and thrilling future.”
The Lucid Motors new space opened in June and is 3,700 square feet, consisting of a new vehicle showroom, semi-private conversation areas for dealers and customers to meet, information and media screens, and storefront modifications. As part of their role on the design team, KPFF evaluated the existing floor to ensure it can handle the loads imposed by showcased vehicles.
Built in 1913, 2-8 Ninth Avenue is a landmarked former warehouse located in the Gansevoort Market Historical District.
The project was a collaboration between KPFF and architectural firm Marmol Radziner and is based off other designs the two firms worked together on in the past.
