KPFF tapped to provide ongoing concrete condition survey services for Pany&NJ
KPFF Consulting Engineers, an industry leader in structural and civil engineering and protective design services, has been contracted by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) to provide ongoing concrete structure condition survey services for the next three years.
PANYNJ oversees regional transportation infrastructure throughout New York and New Jersey, such as railways, tunnels, bridges, America’s busiest airport system, and manages and operates New York and New Jersey assets, such as the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, the One World Trade Center.
As a government agency committed to the safe operation of some of the most critical infrastructure establishments globally, employing qualified consulting engineers is crucial to the success of these unabating entities. Furthermore, a more vital issue in today’s climate is structures’ residual asset value and remaining useful life. PANYNJ has selected KPFF to provide consulting services related to the condition of concrete structures to ensure the community’s safety and provide enhanced sustainable design recommendations.
As an expert in architecture and the built environment, KPFF will perform studies and evaluations to assess the remaining lifespan of reinforced concrete structures. They will deliver field inspection and testing services with appropriate personnel and submit copies of completed findings on inspection reporting forms, which will later be discussed with PANYNJ. Once all appropriate field measures have been taken, KPFF will prepare a cost-analysis assessment and schedule to enhance different assets through computer-generated predictive model reports that indicate the remaining service life of the structure(s). KPFF will then draft deliverables, drawings, and photos to document final reports and recommendations.
“We are pleased to have been tapped to provide crucial design services, consulting, and sustainable design recommendations to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey,” said Spiro Kremmidas, PE, SE, New York Principal, KPFF. “We look forward to contributing to a safer and more sustainable future for the New York/New Jersey region for years to come.”
