Rosendin wins Texas general contractors award two years in a row : Electrical contractor recognized for innovative renovation solutions at UT at Austin’s Welch Hall
Rosendin, one of the electrical contracting industry’s largest employee-owned firms with offices across Texas, is proud to be honored with an Outstanding Construction Award for its work on the University of Texas at Austin’s Welch Hall. Rosendin was recently selected as the winner of a 2020 Specialty Contractor Electrical Award by the Associated General Contractors of America – Texas Building Branch (AGC- TBB) for its retrofitting of the university’s 400,000 square foot chemistry and biochemistry labs.
“Rosendin is honored by the AGC-TBB’s recognition of our team’s hard work and dedication to excellence on the intricate restoration and updating of Welch Hall,” said Brandon Stephens, Operations Manager. “It was both extremely challenging and rewarding to modernize the University’s largest buildings on campus. We are proud to be part of the renovation that will provide students a state-of-the-art facility for exchanging ideas and sharing knowledge.”
The renovations spanned three wings with 60 faculty research labs and several 500-seat classrooms, as well as a library. Despite logistical challenges, Rosendin met and exceeded all project expectations while remaining on time and on budget. The team’s success is credited to its partnership with the IBEW Local 520 that provided a stable workforce of skilled electrical workers, as well as the company’s adherence to strict safety policies, substantial prefabricated assemblies, and an engaged Building Information Model (BIM) team.
Rosendin also wants to thank Beck Group, which served as the General Contractor on the Welch Hall project. This is the second consecutive year Rosendin’s team in Texas has received recognition. In 2020, the AGC awarded Rosendin Top Specialty Electrical Contractor for its work renovating the Delta Sky Club at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
