EP Engineering, a leading MEP and fire protection engineering firm, is proud to announce the completion of full engineering services, including expediting services, for over 10 locations to Gorillas, an on-demand delivery service. Gorillas builds an infrastructure for the fastest last-mile delivery of essential human needs.
EP Engineering was able to deliver filing documents particularly quickly, typically delivering to two locations per week. The in-house expediting offering meant that plans were filed with the Department of Buildings immediately and work permits were often in-hand within days. EP Engineering worked closely with the GC at each location, keeping construction moving with overnight submittal reviews and fast responses to RFIs. This dedication allowed the team to maintain this pace for the duration of these services, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a quickly-expanding breakthrough industry.
In the highly competitive on-demand delivery market in NYC, speed and accuracy were crucial. Gorillas rolled out over 10 locations across NYC in less than 4 months. This meant that locations needed to be assessed for feasibility, designed, permitted and in construction all within several weeks. Because each location was fit-out within an existing building, no two sites were exactly the same. A custom solution was required in most cases to accommodate Gorillas’ specific space programming. With little time for coordination, forward-thinking and out of-the-box designs were necessary.
By disrupting the shopping and supply chain experience of traditionally slow and inflexible retail companies, Gorillas is shaping new grocery consumer behavior (Need-Order-Get). In just over one year, Gorillas has expanded to more than 55 cities, including New York, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Madrid, Milan and Munich, and built more than 200 warehouses across 9 countries. Currently, Gorillas is available in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Denmark, Spain and the UK.
