Dealing with supply chain disruption & labor shortages in construction

Every industry has experienced repercussions due to the pandemic, and the construction industry, in particular, is facing challenges due to supply and labor shortages. Essential building supplies like windows, doors, steel, and lumber are taking much longer to receive and this is causing serious delays on many sites. Construction projects are taking longer to complete, the build schedule is very unpredictable, and it is costing construction companies thousands and thousands of lost revenues.

Supply chain problems and labor shortages need to be addressed to help provide companies with dependability, predictability, and reliability in their construction schedules and timelines. There is a high demand for construction projects of every kind and the industry is expected to grow considerably in 2022. Still, limited manufacturing capacity, supply chain disruption, and labor shortages are making the building process difficult as there are long wait times before the necessary supplies arrive and delays in installation after they finally do. Specific projects cannot begin unless the right components are on hand, so this alone results in lost time. How do you finish your building interior if you are still waiting on windows and doors? Projects that are typically completed within a year are now taking twice as long to build, so completion dates cannot be guaranteed and are difficult to manage.

The entire industry is struggling to keep up with the side effects. In addition to material shortages, labor shortages are causing on site delays as well. This combination is not just resulting in delays but also higher construction costs, so it’s a big problem for both contractors and consumers.

Consumers are being asked to pay higher prices for the end product, and contractors have to wait longer than usual to complete a project. Many shipping containers are stranded, and there is a limited manufacturing capacity due to labor shortages and COVID-19 related protocols, so there is a plodding pace of delivery for many required materials. When you factor this in with an increase in demand, it results in significant issues, as it creates fierce competition for materials that are now considered scarce.

Scarcity will always result in longer processes, which is concerning for many in the industry. Project timelines are continually extending further than initially estimated. In some areas, this percentage is quite alarming, so, understandably, there is a lot of concern regarding the completion of construction projects.

At GNB Global, we can eliminate many of these supply and labor issues for your sites. It is time to take back your construction timeline and schedule!  Our reputation sets us apart, and we have the skills to temporarily enclose your buildings so that you can remain on schedule with your project. Windows not expected to show up for another 3 months and you’re wondering how the heck will I stay on schedule if I can’t start interior finishings? Don’t worry, our patented reusable weather enclosure system (RWES) can temporarily seal your openings so your crews can get to work almost immediately!

You may be thinking, that sounds great but how can you help me with my labor costs and maximize the laborers that I do have? RWES’ tensioned; patented system has been designed to install up to 80% faster than traditional weather enclosures while reducing take down costs by up to 70%. Imagine if you could save 70% of your labor on installing your weather enclosure, how much more efficient would that make you? Not only that, but RWES comes with a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee and never requires rework or repairs.
