EGOpro safe move: sixth sense safety system from AME re-invents construction site safety

EGOpro safe move: sixth sense safety system from AME re-invents construction site safety : The new EGOpro Safe Move from AME protect lives, enables workers to operate more efficiently, and provides a complete safety net across even the biggest construction sites.

Firenze, Italy – Advanced Microwave Engineering (AME), the specialist in Active Safety technology, announces a new era in safety management for construction sites. The new EGOpro Safe Move Smart System provides ‘Active Safety’ and acts as a ‘sixth sense’ to avoid collisions, track personnel and proactively manage safety and site access.

EGOpro Safe Move is a TAG based proximity warning and alert system which can be used as part of a complete Active Safety Project. It uses UWB technology to provide real-time, visual positions and audible alarms to drivers if another vehicle or pedestrian is nearby. SOS columns are installed inside the construction site and can handle both emergency calls based on environmental monitoring systems like fibrolaser, smoke detection, etc as well as programmed alarms including acoustic, visual and variable message alerts. The single, web-based software platform can integrate with CCTV systems, manage communications, monitor third party devices, and manage alarms.

EGOpro Safe Move is completely configurable, with selectable detection ranges and areas, enabling the system to be adapted to specific site conditions and avoid unnecessary alarms. The tag includes an access control system capable of administering an external network, identifying and verifying multiple technologies such as UHF, ISO, biometrics, and fleet management. Every event that occurs on the construction site, such as worker and visitor entry, is tracked in real-time by employing RFID access points and CCTV. Pedestrians are equipped with a small, wearable tag that clips onto their clothing and each unit carries its own transponder to ensure location information across the system is always up to date.

“It is essential on construction sites where vehicles are very large and visibility poor to have a system that helps the driver to identify danger,” says Claudio Salvador, President at AME. “The system warns the driver when there is a real danger and not only prevents accidents or collisions, but also enhances the efficiency of site operations.”

Vehicles are fitted with a configurable touchscreen display that clearly shows the location of other assets and tags. Workers can be alerted after an amount of time in a hazardous zone, with high dust, for example, providing a holistic safety solution which both protects lives and the health of personnel.

Accidents on construction sites are a real threat to life. The system warns vehicle drivers when pedestrians are too close, providing two types of alarms with different detection ranges: pre-warning and warning, to give drivers the best chance to prevent collisions. Furthermore, voice communication with GSM, UHF digital radio networks, and telephone systems, enables active interaction throughout the construction or tunnelling site.

EGOpro Safe Move works across even the biggest construction sites. Its configurability ensures appropriate ranges and detection zone shapes for different vehicle types, from a car to large bulldozer with a side excavator. It is easy to install and is agnostic to vehicle make, model or function.

Salvador concludes, “By wearing the tag, people can be safe anywhere on site, vehicles can travel faster when it is safe to do so, and drivers are provided with a ‘sixth sense’ of where dangers lie.  It is the ultimate combination of protection and efficiency.”

EGOpro Safe Move transforms reactive safety to a proactive solution that protects lives and enables workers to operate more efficiently, adding true value to operations. Rather than asking about the cost of safety, site managers can now ask, “How much value and efficiency will safety add?”
