KAI Engineering hires H. John Vetter II, PE as national electrical engineering subject matter expert

KAI Engineering is pleased to announce the hiring of H. John Vetter II, PE as its new National Electrical Engineering Subject Matter Expert at its Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas office.

Vetter has more than 32 years of combined experience in engineering and management. In this new role at KAI, Vetter will provide company-wide technical expertise in the electrical engineering discipline and act in the lead electrical engineering role on high-profile projects. He will also perform quality assurance and quality control on electrical projects, serve as engineering project manager for large engineering-driven projects, and support KAI’s national engineering principals across all offices. Additionally, he will recruit and support the career development of new talent, mentor electrical discipline team members and support sales efforts for new projects around the MEP disciplines.

“John Vetter has made an immediate impact on KAI. His extensive experience and industry knowledge is a critical differentiator for our KAI Engineering business,” said KAI Managing Partner Brad Simmons, FAIA. “John is a national expert in the electrical engineering community and his comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and their interrelationships brings a unique level of capability to KAI. His steady management style and problem-solving approach continue to keep KAI Engineering at the forefront of highly complex technical projects.”

Prior to KAI, Vetter held the title of Principal – Electrical Department Head at Smith Seckman Reid in Dallas-Fort Worth. There he provided department management and technical direction in the electrical engineering department and was responsible for electrical department staff management, production scheduling and technical quality. He also previously held the positions of Associate – Lead Engineering Project Manager and Project Manager at Dallas-based Aguirre Roden.

Some of Vetter’s previous notable experience includes Washington University School of Medicine Laboratory Renovations in St. Louis; DFW Airport Ramp Operations Center; Verizon Data Center in Southlake, Texas; and NTTA Data Center in Plano, Texas.

Vetter has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla.

He is a registered Professional Engineer in Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Colorado, Mississippi, Virginia and South Carolina. He is also certified in Modicon PLC Programming; NSA Food Safety; ASCOA Fire Suppression Systems Design, Installation and Inspection; and Carrier Design. He is registered as a Record Model Law Engineer through NCEES and received the 30 Hour Construction Safety Certification through OSHA. He is a member of professional industry organizations IEEE, ASHRAE, NSPE and TSPE.

Outside of work, Vetter enjoys spending time with his wife, Alice, reading and traveling, and he loves to barbecue.
