Modular housing startup Cloud Apartments grows team, announces hiring of director of construction
SAN JOSE, CA – Cloud Apartments, a product company that builds a signature line of prefabricated apartments to drive down the cost of housing and drive up the quality for its renters, announced this week the hiring of Matthew Rapa, the Director of Construction. As Director of Construction, Matthew will lead the construction of Cloud Apartments’ prototype units and use his experience in modular construction to further its patented snap installment technology for snapping modules together onsite.

Matt has installed about 1,000 modules during his career and brings all his learnings about modular construction with him. With his construction expertise, he is single-handedly building our prototype apartment units and adding his real-world experience as we design our proprietary snap connection systems.”

Matthew is a licensed General Contractor and comes to Cloud Apartments with experience in the commercial real estate and construction industries. His professional background includes working as the superintendent of multiple modular construction companies, structurally installing and finishing modular apartment units on construction sites as Senior Modular Superintendent of RAD Urban in Oakland, California, and running his own construction company through project management and consulting.
Cloud Apartments will launch its first apartment in 2024 and is currently seeking partnerships with developers to participate in its feasibility study.

Curtis Wong is the Founder and CEO of Cloud Apartments which he founded in 2020 after deciding to dedicate his time to building and improving prefabricated housing as a solution to the country’s housing shortage.
Curtis holds Master’s degrees from Harvard Business School and Stanford University in structural engineering. His versatile experience includes creating launch pads at SpaceX, engineering numerous buildings in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas, and leading modular housing developments at Starcity.
Curtis grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoys rock climbing and boxing in his free time.
